Pool days at one of Oman’s most iconic resort destinations
The Chedi Muscat has officially joined Privilee Oman, bringing one of the country’s most recognised resort experiences onto the membership.
Set between the city and the sea in Al Ghubra, this hotel in Muscat has long been known for its quieter atmosphere, traditional Omani design, and understated approach to luxury. Despite its central location, it feels removed from the pace of the city around it. The kind of place you arrive for a slower afternoon and somehow stay through sunset.
For Privilee Members, access is adults-only and includes the resort’s three pools, beach and changing facilities, plus 15% off dining across the property.
The setting
The Chedi Muscat spans 21 acres of landscaped grounds, though it rarely feels expansive in an overwhelming way. Instead, everything feels considered. Open walkways, water features, palm-lined pathways, and low-rise architecture create a slower atmosphere from the moment you arrive.
The design blends contemporary minimalism with traditional Omani architecture. Dark woods, soft lighting, stone textures, and quiet courtyards give the resort a calm, refined feel throughout. Online, it is often described as “serene” or “sanctuary-like”, which makes sense once you spend time there. Even when the resort is busy, it never really feels crowded.
That atmosphere is a huge part of what makes this Muscat beach resort stand out. There’s space between loungers, space between buildings, allll the space to properly switch off for the day.
It also attracts a slightly different crowd to many resort pools in Oman. Fewer high-energy weekends, more slower plans. Think: chilled pool days, long lunches, quieter conversations, reading by the pool, and staying longer than intended.

The pools
The pools are easily one of the biggest highlights of The Chedi Muscat.
Privilee Members can move between three different pool settings across the resort, each with its own atmosphere. There’s the adults-only infinity pool overlooking the Gulf of Oman, the more relaxed Serai Pool, and then the iconic Long Pool.
At 103 metres long, the Long Pool is one of the most recognisable hotel pools in the region and regularly featured across travel coverage of Oman. Framed by palms, black-tiled water, and perfectly aligned loungers, it feels more like a cinematic set than a standard lap pool.
It’s also the kind of setting that works for almost any pace of day. Early morning swims before the heat picks up, slower afternoons stretched between shaded loungers, or cooler evening dips once the fire pits begin lighting up around the resort.
The atmosphere across all three pools stays noticeably calm. Adults-only areas help keep the experience quieter, while the overall layout of the resort means there’s always somewhere more private to settle into.
For anyone searching for an adults-only pool in Muscat with a more elevated feel, this is probably the closest thing to a true resort escape within the city.

The beach
Private beach access is included as part of the Privilee experience at The Chedi Muscat, adding another layer to the slower pace the resort is known for.
The beachfront stretches for nearly 400 metres along the Gulf of Oman, with loungers, shaded areas, and uninterrupted sea views throughout. Like the rest of the property, the beach never feels overdesigned or overly busy. Everything is quieter, more spacious, more relaxed.
It’s the sort of beach access Muscat residents often look for during summer – somewhere to properly cool off, read for a few hours, order lunch nearby, and spend an entire afternoon without needing to leave the resort.
Even though you’re still in central Muscat, the atmosphere makes it easy to forget.

The dining
Start with breakfast, stay for sunset.
Members receive 15% off dining across several restaurants and lounges throughout the resort, making it very easy to turn a shorter visit into an all-day plan.
The Restaurant is the resort’s signature all-day dining venue, known for its dramatic Omani arches, open kitchens, and a menu spanning Asian, Middle Eastern, Indian, and contemporary dishes. It works equally well for slower breakfasts or evening dinners.
The Beach Restaurant sits directly on the waterfront, serving seafood alongside uninterrupted Gulf of Oman views. One of the best spots at the resort once sunset starts approaching.
The Long Pool Cabana is positioned beside the famous Long Pool and serves Japanese and Asian dishes, including sushi and sashimi. Easily one of the most recognisable dining spots on the property.
The Chedi Pool Cabana leans more Mediterranean, with a relaxed poolside atmosphere that suits longer lunches and slower afternoons between swims.
The Serai Pool Cabana is more casual during the day, ideal for lighter meals, drinks, and cooling off between time at the pool and beach.
Then there’s The Lobby Lounge, one of the quieter spaces at the resort. Good coffee, calmer surroundings, and the kind of atmosphere that makes staying for another hour feel very reasonable.
